CAT Preparation Strategy by Isha Nisar (99.37%iler in CAT 2019, IIM Ahmedabad PGP 2020-22)

It was back in 2014 that Isha Nisar saw the movie "2 States" and immediately fell in love with IIM Ahmedabad. From then on, getting in to IIM Ahmedabad became a mission for her. This year, she scored 99.37%ile and got selected in IIM Ahmedabad. Now, who said that dreams don't come true? You just have to be a real dreamer and be ready to work relentlessly towards it.

Here we bring to you an interview of Isha Nisar. She has been kind enough to spare some time to help, guide, and inspire the students of this country.

Amigoz: Hi Isha, Many Congratulations on clearing CAT and getting into IIM Ahmedabad.

Isha: Thanks a lot, Prajjwal.

Amigoz: Could you please tell us a bit about your background?

Isha: I did my schooling from St. John's, Thane which is a Maharashtra State Board School and scored 94.18% in my class 10th boards. I was interested in studying commerce and so I enrolled myself in Narsee Monjee, Mumbai. I scored 89.08% is my class 12th boards.

I then joined Bachelor in Management Studies (BMS) specializing in Finance. I scored 81.20%. While I was in my Post Graduation, I took up a job in the marketing domain and I have a total experience of 14 months.

Amigoz: Isha, How are you as a person? an Introvert, an Extrovert or an Ambivert?

Isha: (Smiling), I would call myself a proper extrovert who likes meeting and talking to people a lot. I often talk to random strangers while travelling.

Amigoz: Please tell us how you started your MBA preparation Journey?

Isha: Well. as filmy as it sounds, I saw the movie "2 States" in 2014 and came to know about IIM Ahmedabad. I knew that this was the college I wanted to study in. Hence, I started preparing for CAT as soon as I could. Every career decision I made from that day was a step towards IIM Ahmedabad. Unlike my aspirants who decide after graduation that they want to for an MBA, I chose my stream in 12th and under graduation in commerce because I wanted to do an MBA.

Amigoz: As a Non-Engineer, did you find it difficult to crack CAT?

Isha:  Personally, I always knew I was going to join IIM Ahmedabad. But, I was told by many that CAT and IIMs are only for Engineers and I wanted to prove them wrong. Luckily, one of my seniors had got into IIM Ahmedabad as well and then went on to become a Gold Medalist. This motivated me a lot.
